Maxwell Millar-Blanchaer

Former Caltech Prize Postdoc. Now Assistant Professor at UCSB.

Profile:

I work on the direct imaging of exoplanets, brown dwarfs and debris disks (extra solar analogs to our own Kuiper and asteroid belts). I work on a mix of instrumentation, observation and data analysis. I mostly focus on designing, commissioning and using polarimeters. Please get in touch if you want to chat!

Bio: I went to Queen's University for my undergrad, where I got a BSc in physics and BASc in Electrical Engineering. In 2016 I obtained my PhD at the University of Toronto under the supervision of Dae-Sik Moon and James Graham with a thesis on the Gemini Planet Imager's polarimetry mode and the testing of a technology called a Polarization Grating. I then spent 3 year at JPL as a Hubble Fellow working on a range of polarimetry projects and began as a Millikan Fellow at Caltech in 2019. In Nov. 2020 I start a faculty position at UCSB.
