Nem actively works on developing astrophotonic technologies such as photonic spectrographs, lanterns and nulling interferometers as well as instruments for the characterization of exoplanets.
Profile:
Nem completed his PhD in photonics and went on to work on developing astrophotonics at the Australian Astronomical Observatory. He spent 5 years at Subaru Telescope testing these technologies as well as designing, building and using the high contrast imager SCExAO. He now works on exoplanet characterization instruments such as KPIC and HISPEC at Caltech. He recently co-led an astrophotonics roadmap to chart the course technology development over the next decade.
